More than being the lifeblood of the country’s education sector, the employees of DepEd SDO-Bataan exhibited humanitarian compassion as they participated in the Mass Blood Donation organized by its Health and Nutrition Unit, SDO Bataan Conference Hall, July 22.
Spearheaded by Dr. Roberto B. Luneta, SDO Bataan Medical Officer III, the blood donation drive pushed through in cooperation with Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center-Blood bank which is the authorized institution for blood banking and distribution.
With at least 20 donors per district, the blood letting activity was done by three batches to observe physical distancing among the donors inside the venue.
SDO Bataan blood donors underwent screening and check up to ensure their fitness to donate.
Coming off from a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, SDO-Bataan resumed its annual humanitarian project upon the go signal from OIC-Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Roland M. Fronda.
“Actually, pre-pandemic ay ginagawa na namin ito, napigil nga lang dahil nagkapandemic. May coordination na si Sir Fronda together with the BGHMC Medical Director Dr. (Gloria) Baltazar…Noong nagpandemic, siyempre natigil. And then nito lang nagresume dahil Category 1 (COVID Risk Classigication of Bataan), hindi na masayadong mahigpit dahil kaunti na lang ang transmission although tumataas pa rin. Buti nagawa ngayon,” explained Dr. Luneta.
The said donation drive was supposed to be held earlier but was put on hold due to Bataan’s placement under medium and high risk classifications back then.
